Common FAQs—

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO DESIGN MY OWN RUG?

I know the word custom sounds pricey but the cost of a custom rug isn't too much more than an in-stock rug! The cost of a custom rug can range from $20-$25 per square foot. (So a 3’ x 12’ runner for a hallway would cost $720 - $900 which includes tax and shipping to most places.) I'll send you a custom quote after you submit your design questionnaire and we finalize details.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

After I submit your customization options to the weaver, it is currently taking longer than usual to ship custom rugs. We’re currently running on a 10-12 week timeline. Please remember that humans are weaving your rug by hand!! Timelines can be delayed for religious holidays, weather delays during rug drying etc. If you are on a tight turnaround, let me know up front.

CAN I DESIGN ANY SIZE?

Yes! A common loom used by 2 weavers is 9’ wide so you can design a rug up to 9' wide and however long you need. If you need a rug wider than 9', it will require more weavers and may be slightly more expensive per sq. ft. but definitely doable!

CAN YOU HELP WITH DESIGN?

Absolutely, however it is helpful to gather a few images of Moroccan (or other) rugs you love beforehand. Note that there are limits to what our weavers are familiar with for example, they’re not in the business of weaving Turkish style rugs so if you’re in love with that style and design, we’ll discuss how we can produce it with a Moroccan flair. Fill out the questionnaire to get started! Excited to hear from you!

WHO ARE THE ARTISANS MAKING MY RUG?

Depending on what type of rug you are interested in, your rug will be woven by hand by weavers in various parts of Morocco. I work with a women’s group of weavers near Rabat and also work with weavers near Beni Ourain, Marrakesh and near Azilal.
